SHINE A LIGHT THIS ADVENT
Whatever your tradition, our sincere prayer for you and your family is that you will shine the Light of Christ to those around you this Christmas. Not only that, we pray that you will see Christ in those around you and experience His love in your life.
To help, we have this little gift for you. It is a printable Advent calendar of a different kind
Download, print and cut out the stars. (Colouring in for extra fun!)
Jesus came to be the light of the world.
Just as the star’s light showed the wise men how to find Jesus,
so our light in the world today shows others how to find Him.

Greg and Marian are doctors who serve in Central Asia.
They write:
‘Bringing real change to this nation is what our Father is about, and we are part of that process. Matthew 5:48 (NEB) says, “There must be no limit to your goodness as your heavenly Father’s goodness knows no bounds”. Openly sharing faith is banned but bringing goodness is not and many conversations are occurring about who we are and why we are here. We like it: it is challenging but it is good.’

In many places speaking publicly about Christ risks deportation, imprisonment or worse. But as Christians, we can illuminate in many ways. Where there is darkness, acts of love and restoration are bright lights of hope. And in many places they are leading people to give glory to our Father, and honour his Son, the True Light.
There is a small local church in Central Asia, shining Christ’s light with courage. As well as poverty and injustice in their country, many believers deal with persecution and isolation from their communities. In this context, Greg and Marian serve with their skills, through faith-filled discipleship, and with friendship. The love of fellow believers is encouragement that lets the light shine so much brighter.
God gives the light. He asks that we let it shine.

We want to continue to call New Zealand Christians to shine the light God has given, and as a church we must be ready to send and support them.
Would you join me in sending another light today?
