Is Interserve a registered charity? Is it listed as an approved donee organisation by IRD?

Yes, Interserve NZ (CC11027) is a registered charitable entity in terms of the Charities Act 2005 (www.charities.govt.nz). And yes, it is on Inland Revenue Department’s list of approved donee organisations, therefore your donations are eligible (if they meet the conditions) for a tax credit of up to 33%, up to the level of your annual net income.

Are my gifts to Interserve eligible for a tax credit (formerly tax rebate)?

Yes, donations of $5 or more are eligible for a tax credit, provided they are allocated for use within New Zealand. This means that all donations designated as support for the Interserve NZ office and/or staff, special projects within New Zealand, or Partners based in New Zealand (on Home Assignment, for example), are eligible. However, any donations that support Partners working outside of New Zealand are not eligible. Please contact us if you have any further questions about whether your donation is eligible for a tax credit, either by phone on 0800 446 464 or by email at talk2us@interserve.org.nz.

How much tax credit can I claim from IRD?

You can claim 33.33% of the total donation you've made, up to the level of your annual net income. For more information about making a claim, and how you can donate your credit back to Interserve, go to Tax Receipts FAQ.

How do I make a donation to Interserve?

There are a variety of payment options available, so that you can choose the option which is best suited to you. We offer secure online giving by credit card, where your donations will be processed in real time and an automatically generated receipt will be emailed to you. Or you can set up an Automatic Payment (to make regular payments directly from your nominated bank account), or make Telebanking or Internet banking arrangements. You can also mail us your donation as a cheque or money order. Please do not post us cash, as this is prohibited by New Zealand Post, however you are welcome to drop cash donations into us at our office in Balmoral, Auckland. Receipts will be issued annually.

Can I give online by credit card?

Yes, we offer secure online giving by credit card, where your donations will be processed in real time and an automatically generated receipt will be emailed to you. Please read our Privacy Policy and Security information, to learn more about how we store and process your personal and financial information.  >> DONATE ONLINE NOW

I don’t live in NZ: what is the best way for me to donate?

There are a number of options depending where you live. If you live in a country that has an Interserve office you can send money via them to us: click here for the list of Interserve offices worldwide. Contact the relevant office, make your donation, and it will be forwarded to us (each quarter any monies held by others for us are forwarded to us via the international office).
We prefer not to receive cheques issued by banks outside of NZ, as they incur extra charges, sometimes more than the original value of the donation. Instead we recommend money orders made out to Interserve NZ.
You can make an online credit card donation, which will be processed in real time and you’ll receive an automatically generated email receipt. The amount that appears on the donation form will be in NZ dollars, but a currency converter link is provided for your convenience.   >>DONATE ONLINE NOW

Do you have any Planned Giving options?

Yes, we do. If you would like more information on how to include Interserve NZ in your will, please contact us by phone on 0800 446 464 or by email at talk2us@interserve.org.nz, and ask for our National Director.

What is a donor number, and do I have one?

In order to help our accounting department keep accurate records, every donor is issued a donor number. If you have already donated to us, you will have a donor number. It will be located above your name on the address label of correspondence we send to you. It is helpful if you do include your donor number on any correspondence you send to us, or have it handy when you call us, but it is not vital. If you would like us to confirm your donor number, or have any more questions about it, please contact us by phone on 0800 446 464 or by email at talk2us@interserve.org.nz.

Can I support the Partner of my choice?

Yes, you can. You can either support a Partner already known to you, or we could suggest someone. Please specify if you would like us to suggest a Partner serving in a particular country or working in a particular field otherwise we will direct your money to the Partner in most need. Email us today at talk2us@interserve.org.nz if you are interested in supporting one of our Partners, or phone us during office hours (8.30am - 5.00pm, Monday to Friday) on 0800 446 464 (free call from within NZ).
Go to How do I make a donation to Interserve? to find out more about payment options. If the Partner is serving outside of New Zealand, your donation may not be eligible for a tax credit – see Are my gifts to Interserve eligible for a tax credit? to learn more.
If you already know the name of the Partner, and just want to make a one-off credit card donation, you can do this using our secure online giving option. Under Donation Type select Mission Partner, then write their name in the Details window, and the amount you wish to donate. >> DONATE ONLINE NOW

Can I give to other Interserve Partners who are sent from other Interserve offices?

Yes, you can. Please provide details of the Partner’s surname and the country they are being sent from, along with your donation. Each quarter any monies held by us for others are forwarded to them via the international office.

How do I know my support will go to the right Partner?

Support for Interserve Partners, On Trackers, approved projects, or the general fund is under the control of Interserve. We will always honour the donor's choice of designation, however, at the end of the year, any excess support for one Partner may be used to cover the deficit of another. If you have any questions or if there is a correction that needs to be made, please contact us by phone on 0800 446 464 or by email at talk2us@interserve.org.nz.

Do I need to use separate cheques for each Partner I support?

No. If you support more than one Partner (or couple), and also wish to include donations to special projects or the Interserve NZ office etc, then total the amount up and include it all on one cheque. Please ensure that you include the relevant information on how to break it down, however, so that your support will be allocated to the correct areas.

Can I support a staff member from the Interserve NZ office?

Yes, you can. Even though the work that home staff do is often less visible, it is vital to keeping Partners supported and cared for while they serve in the hard places. If you already know the name of the staff member you would like to support, please be sure to include this information along with your donation. Otherwise, please contact us by phone on 0800 446 464 or by email at talk2us@interserve.org.nz, and we will help you select someone. As a bonus, your donations are eligible for a tax credit of 33%, which will make your hard-earned dollar go the extra mile.
If you know the name of the staff member, you can use our secure online giving option to make a credit card donation. Under Donation Type select NZ Staff Member, then enter their name in the Details window, and the amount you wish to donate.  >>DONATE ONLINE NOW

What do I do if I want to change my support?

There are several options available. Either contact us by phone on 0800 446 464 or by email at talk2us@interserve.org.nz, and let us know what it is you want to change. Alternatively, write down the changes on your response form that you usually include with your support, and mail it to us. You are also welcome to drop in at our office if you live nearby, and give the relevant details to our administrator, as we enjoy meeting our supporters.

I have pledged my support to new Partners, who are not on the field yet. When do I start giving?

Thank you for your pledge! Once new Partners have been accepted, Interserve works with them to ascertain what level of financial support they are going to need in their place of service. Before they can leave for the field, 100% support must be pledged. You can start giving at any time, and the funds will be credited towards their support. If you ever wish to cancel your pledge, please contact us by phone on 0800 446 464 or by email at talk2us@interserve.org.nz.
