PAID POSITION! Companies, donor agencies, NGOs and government organisations all need short-term consultant advice from time to time. Areas include: water engineering, ecology, agriculture, economics, business, finances, education, mining, shale oil, tourism, civil engineering, etc. These short-term assignments have their own terms of reference and are usually from 1 - 6 months. They are well paid positions and generally provide an excellent, low-risk way to learn about the country and have some influence with colleagues. Generally Arabic is not required for these assignments, although the more language and culture you have, the more relevant your life will be to others. Anyone interested should check out job advertisements for international organisations/donors that work in the country. We are hoping for people who are interested in more than just being a consultant; someone who wants to learn about the country and culture, link with our team here, and use the assignment to have a positive influence on both policy (ie what the assignment is about) and colleagues.

This organisation provides social and educational services to the community. These include receiving goods from international donors and distributing to many organisations in Central Asia. They also run a successful English school and have opened a modern cafe for students and staff. The job would include involvement in renovation projects on the site, helping with organising the shipping of containers of goods, managing day-to-day maintenance of facilities, landscaping and gardening.

SOUTH EAST ASIA

For over a decade, the staff of this organisation has worked to provide high quality, affordable language teaching in the region. It has three language centres located in different parts of the country, offering English and local language classes. Under the same organisation, there is also a vocational skills training centre in the capital. We are looking for volunteers who have giftings in administration, finance, computer maintenance or general maintenance skills to support the work of the language school for a minimum five-week commitment. No formal qualifications are required. This role would be ideal for someone wanting to gain a taste of what it's like to serve in this country.
