Project Manager  1189

The organisation was established to improve the lives of the poor and marginalised. It partners with local community leadership who implement projects in education; health; infrastructure and environment; agricultural and veterinary training; and/or income generating loans. It also partners with donors and carries out necessary monitoring and evaluation tasks.
The Project Manager will carry out administrative tasks such as writing mailings for fundraising purposes; reporting to donors; taking notes on field trips; evaluating projects; taking Board Meeting minutes; updating stories for the website; carrying out necessary research, etc; and will travel to visit projects and to meet with local leadership. Applicants should have experience in development work, proven management skills and the ability to work in a team.  They should be competent in spoken and written English and have respect for different cultures and different church denominations.

Horticultural Advisor  1061

A Horticultural Advisor is needed to research the possibilities of small horticultural business development; investigate the  potential of new economic crops and the market situation; develop instructional programs to promote the effective growing of fruit and vegetables in squatter settlements and villages to improve family nutrition and income; develop experimental garden plots in order to demonstrate useful techniques; promote alternative technologies where appropriate; and liaise with the relevant government authorities. The candidate should have practical experience in the successful growing of household vegetables and fruit, together with associated techniques such as composting. Knowing how to prepare attractive meals using natural ingredients would be useful. The candidate should be used to working with minimum facilities, tools and chemicals.

Horticulturalist / Farmer  310

Through this organization's activities, involved in reviving the once abundant fruit-growing region of this country, 60 new orchards have been planted which have impacted 12 communities.  This job involves joining a team of expatriates working with local farmers to assist and train them in developing profitable fruit-growing farms. Experience in orchard management of apples, pears, apricots, plums and peaches would be particularly helpful. A background in fresh fruit marketing and storage would be useful.

We see opportunities for community development workers to come alongside with professional training and support national initiatives in areas such as sanitation, agriculture, and healthcare. The best candidates will have appropriate training and experience in community development in a variety of settings including in the developing world.
